dodge.comDodge began in 1900 as a company run by brothers John and Horace Dodge, who first supplied parts to other carmakers, including Ford, before building their own cars from 1914. That mechanical-supplier origin gave Dodge a reputation for rugged, well-built vehicles early on.
Over time Dodge settled into a clear role within America's Big Three: the brand for muscle and attitude. It is best known now for raw performance, the Charger and Challenger muscle cars with their giant Hemi V8s and Hellcat versions making outputs that border on absurd. For decades Dodge also built the Ram pickups before those became a separate brand.
Dodge's appeal is unapologetic: loud, fast, affordable performance with a sense of humour, aimed at buyers who want a muscle car more than a refined one. As the industry shifts to electric power, that identity faces its biggest test, and Dodge has started answering with electric muscle cars that try to keep the attitude while changing what's under the hood.
