genesis.comGenesis is the newcomer here, spun off in 2015 as the standalone luxury brand of South Korea's Hyundai Motor Group. It grew out of Hyundai's earlier attempts at luxury sedans, and the timing was deliberate: Korean cars had earned a reputation for quality and value, and Genesis was the bet that they could go upmarket too.
The brand made an impression faster than most expected. It hired well-known designers, gave its cars a confident look built around a distinctive two-line lighting signature, and won critical praise for interiors and refinement that genuinely rival the Germans. Models like the G80 sedan and the GV70 and GV80 SUVs anchor the range, with electric versions following.
Genesis still has to build the one thing money can't buy quickly: the heritage and status that established luxury brands trade on. For buyers, that is also the opportunity. It typically offers more car, more equipment, and longer warranties than its rivals at a lower price, aimed at people who care more about how good the car is than about what the badge signals.
