globalsuzuki.comSuzuki was founded in 1909 by Michio Suzuki in Hamamatsu, starting out building weaving looms before turning to motorcycles and then small cars. More than a century on, it is still based in Hamamatsu and still defined by one idea: small, light, and cheap to run.
Suzuki figured out the small car better than almost anyone. Its kei cars rule the narrow streets of Japan, and the same know-how made it a giant in India, where Maruti Suzuki has led the market for decades. The Jimny is the clearest expression of the philosophy, a tiny, genuinely capable off-roader with a cult following well beyond its size.
In much of the world, Suzuki is about value and efficiency rather than badge or space. Models like the Swift, Ertiga, and XL7 keep running costs low and fit tight roads and parking. The brand asks you to give up some prestige and some size. In return you get a car that sips fuel, shrugs off city life, and costs little to keep on the road.
